That's a neat piece of driving.

Those 180's & 360's are handbrake turns...not that difficult, but they take a lotta, lotta practice and tend to flatspot your rear tires.

Hey....go for it, Racing Girl!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Very Cool!!

Does anyone know how they pull off the front wheelie at the end? Seems like you would need massive braking power and/or front heavy weight distribution. Also, it appears the rear wheels are smaller than the front. Is that to help with the 360's?

Cheers,
John

Not sure about shortened, but seems very front heavy to me.
Wide/grippy front wheels with skinny rears help too, I bet. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
Utterly cool, though! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

oh yes, I think it has been shortened - look at the rear side window in profile - looks a lot shorter than a standard Mini

How do you think these cars won the Monte Carlo Rally 3 times? They were so good at those handbrake turns the French had to invent an excuse to keep them from making it 4 in a row.

The car in the movie has definately been shortened. That helps pull off the front wheel "wheelie". Still, one AWESOME demonstration.

My favorite for that was an 84 Ford Tempo. The trunk made it rear heavy enough that you could really sling it around. But not quite like that.

My least favorite was the 67 Chevy PU I had to stop with the handbrake twice. It did not behave in a remotely controlable method at all. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif "Scared the wee-wee out of me." is, I think, the technical term.
