TR2/3/3A wheel spacers for TR3

I want to put 60 spoke wires on my 61 TR3, but want to be able to use the disc wheels again if I want to.. I have read that you can use a 1/4 spacer on the wheels and not have to cut the wheel studs. Where can I buy the spacers?

Try almost any auto parts store, seeing as the 4 x 4.5" bolt pattern (PCD) is a somewhat common one.

Revington in England makes a set for the TR3 and the holes are cut properly so there won't be any side load issues for generic oval cut spacers.
Although, many use them too with no issues that I know of, I just like the tight fit of the made to fit type.

I've had that same thought - I'll be buying mine from Joe Alexander. I think his site is the-vintage-racer.com or something close to that - but he also sells a lot on ebay. Good guy, a TR racer, and I've been happy with the things I've bought from him before.

I've heard that the ones sold in parts stores frequently lead to balance problems.

And I heartily agree, everything I've gotten from him has been top-notch. The rocker nuts are works of art! There is only one problem with them ... they make the rest of my engine look SO shabby!

I have 2 sets of 4 available for $50. One set is used inclusing shipping in the USA, one set is used and one set is new. They are 6061T6 alloy, very strong. I have run a set on my TR-2/3 for a couple of years with no problems using wire wheels on my disc wheel car. I became a wheel dealer for VTO performance wheels and converted back to alloy wheels. I'm using the 'one-size-fits-many' style. Got them from a local wheel shop that caters to hot-rodders.

Have had no problems with balance possibly because the spacers are very light weight and the mass is close to the center of things.

That said, I can see that a purpose-made spacer with correct size holes would be better --just couldn't find those 10 years ago.

Stupid question but does it matter if the spacers are behind or in front of the wire wheel spline attachment?

Ok great, I have them on behind at this point (and still having tyres put on the new wire wheel hubs) but suddenly looked at them and thought maybe they need to be in front or would it make any difference lol (I didn't try see if they would even fit in front). Thxs for your reassurance and help Graham.
