...on me "good" retina.

Went to the "regular checkup" appointment, the retinologist says: "Well, there's a bit of a flap there, I'll laser it now, just for safety's sake." Tech numbed me up and put some brace of drops in there to dilate it further. Hour later I know how a possum feels if caught out on a sunny day at noon.

ACK.

This kid is as good as they get from all accounts, she's the one who put the scleral buckle on the other eye and basically saved my sight... and she's adorable, besides.

But it's like someone threw sand in me right eye just now.

My dad had 4 similar "encounters" but this was at the infancy of lasers and such as we have now.

Hope it works out. I am VERY afraid of a "tech" armed with a lazer. Sounds very Austin Powers?
All the best, mate!

I didn't have that sensation. Just saw green spots for a couple days until those rods died completely. I arrived in "the chair" before the Doc came in and couldn't help checking things out. Saw a warning label on the laser that said "Do Not Shine in Eyes". Hmmmmmmm.

I don't know why they haven't figured out how to use a carbon dioxide laser yet. Them things have an invisible beam.

Green an' rectangle shaped. She hit me in short bursts, two "double-tap" hits in a row then acquire a new target. In "rows"... Seem'd to go on forever. I kinda thought th' machine shoulda said "SINGER" onna side after it wuz done.

Glad you are on the mend doc.
Could it be that you are having "tack welds" just to see the operator? I'm just saying.....

I had that laser shiX done, on both eyes, several years ago.
They blew vents in my iris corners for some damXed reason.

The first one, head locked into the gestapo torture brace, they hit me, felt like 110V 60CPS into the eye, down the neck and shoulders, down the arms, and grounding out both hands which were gripping the metal based armrests.

They could hear me screaming two floors away.

They "claimed" that had never happened before, but they did stop, and "adjusted" the machine, continuing with no further problem.

Next time, I threatened to have some sort of metallic defensive device in my hand.....joke, son, just a joke.

So, good and bad here.

They wanted to put that postal rubber band on my eye and I flipped out !!!

Good thing too as it wouldn't have helped my condition.

She's dolly but even at that I'd not volunteer for this stuff! There was pain involved, heat generated. Not the spike thru th' body kind Dave related, rather a deep burning like she'd driven that dam beam into my cortex. An attendant put on an exam glove and had me nodge shoved tight against the chin/forehead braces. No clamps... not metal ones anyway.
Humanely restrained! :jester:

The eye is certainly one part of the body that is extremely sensitive to procedures that cause pain.... that would be every procedure!
Sorry you had to endure it doc. Hopefully the worst is behind you!
