TR2/3/3A TR3 Upper Wishbone Fulcrum Pins? Too Worn?

Hello All.

I'm cleaning 50 years of grime off the suspension parts for my 59 TR3A. I purchased TRF Magic Kit to rebuild the suspension. Using poly bushings where upper wishbones pivot on upper fulcrum pin.

I cleaned up and powder coated my upper fulcrum assembly but the actual pins are pretty corroded. They are not really worn - just corroded. See photo.

So, do I need to replace these, or just clean them up and try and create a smooth surface for the poly bushing. I assume the poly bushings must pivot on these pins, so if I clean these up and grease them during assembly, do you think it will be OK? Right now, the new poly bushes fit pretty tight. I think I could take some wet/dry sandpaper and clean up these pins.

Any advise from you guys? Clean up the fulcrum assemblies or replace with new?

They look fine from the photo. Just use a strip of emery paper and polish the rust off.

I polished it up last night and this is what I've got. Actually looks pretty good!

Any tricks for reassembling the suspension? I'll go slow and fit each part and tighten after all are assembled. I assume that liberal quantities of white lithium grease are in order?

One thing to remember is to loosely tighten the nuts on any moving part of the suspension and apply the proper torque after the car has been lowered and is resting on the wheels.

Not really necessary, IMO, with the urethane bushings. In fact, I prefer to properly tighten all the pivots before installing the springs, to check for free motion.

The stock rubber bushings are the ones that need to be tightened with the suspension in roughly the center of travel, because the bushings distort as the suspension moves, rather than turning as the urethane (or nylon/Nylatron) bushings do.
