Not an editor but from what I've seen:
Events
classifieds
summitted articles
focus on a member and their car (may be submitted)
how to (may be submitted)
tid bit of history on the car or manufacturer club is focused on or history of the club itself
and dedications or info to members or people of influence (most car club members are very old and have health issues)

My condolences... I mean congratulations.

Recurring columns can be an effective way to assure adequate interesting copy (e.g. Presidents column, Tachnical column, Driving Events column, etc).

Getting a 12-month committment from a couple of individuals can spare you having to beat the bushes month after month for items.
