New kid here. I have always thought I'd like to have an XKE, but what is considered the best year for this beautiful car?

Welcome to the forums Dreamer! I'm sure there will be differing views but my favorite is the later (65-68) series I. The main thing for me is to have tripple carbs and glass covered lights. But all the Es a great cars and I'd be proud to own any of them!

Well if you ask me it was in 1967 the best Jags were made. Why? Simple that is what I have. 4.2L,. stick, no air, no pollution control, improved braking from 3.8, more comfortable seating, etc. '67 was a truelly fine year.
Hehe, I may have to agree with that, but then I may be biased (67 OTS #1E13333). Welcome to the forum! By the way, I just noticed - I used to be your neighbor. Your profile says you are in Glenn Carbon? Well, I used to live in Troy, IL (When I was active duty I was stationed at Scott AFB)Originally posted by laydent:

Why not go all the way and get a 12 cylinder? Remove the emissions gear and get one of the most dynamite performers ever built! Like my 1974 V12 O2S!
I agree, the V12 is nice. I used to have a V12 Coupe. I just wish they could have kept the glass covered headlights and slim bumbers. Is your 12 your only Jag or have you had/have others?Originally posted by Gene:
