Can you identify this door mirror?

Two of these came on the 4A. There are no maker's marks and the screw holes are 4" apart. My problem has been that wind buffeting knocks them out of alignment. I plan on seeing if I can fix that, but I thought I would see what other types of mirrors are out there. I have not found anything that is an exact fit, but I have not done the metric conversions on the Tex site either.

Thanks in advance.

Don, I had to google '64 Falcons to see what their side view mirrors look like...I'll be damned, it sure looks like that's what it is.

Well, it may not be a Falcon mirror but that one popped into my head as well. Had "liberated" my mom's Falcon when I got my license... she hated it. 3-speed column shift straight six. She got a small block Mustang drop-top automatic. Both had a mirror very similar to the one CTR posted. Angle of the photo makes it a bit hard to see the "flukes" on the mirror stand so th' jury's still out.

Thanks, guys. This is hilarious. If these mirrors are original, I can see a dealer that sold Fords and Triumphs and digging into the accessories bin way back when. Or the used car dealer when the car was resale red.

Attached is a picture of the driver's side. It is not quite the same angle as the Mustang mirror link.

I am going to see if I can stiffen up the mirrors first, but will look into measurements just in case Ford mirrors are the way to go.

Thanks again!

Put em on eBay. Must be someone out there with a Falcon or Fairlane. Might be worth a pretty penny

Nah, they repro EVERYTHING for moose-tangs. I think you can build an entire new car from a catalog. No challenge in that. I had someone bring in a 65 V8 coupe for an estimate recently. It had plenty of structural rust, and every single part was available and relativly cheap. Moss sells "bullet" mirrors that have a 4 1/2 inch base. That might be a temporary cure anyway.

Hey Jesse!! Yeah, I actually like the mirrors because that it what came on the car, but not when I have to keep adjusting them when I am driving. I know it will be a bigger pain when it gets colder and the windows are rolled up. I'll take a closer look at the Moss mirrors. I'm thinking a suitable alternative might be the Shelby bullet mirrors if I can't stiffen my mirrors up.

Interesting postscript to this story, when I took off the passenger mirror to see if there were any markings on the base, I decided to clean, polish, and wax everything. There is a little screw on the back of the mirror near the ball pivot that actually tightened the mirror up after investigation. I backed it off so it will give a bit if it gets bumped. What a neat feature! I did not notice that with the Ford mirrors.

This project is finished!!
