Pulled the apron and radiator, getting ready to pull the engine and swap in the rebuilt one I found.

Glad I had to pull the radiator, check out the coffee colored stuff that was in the bottom of it...

And finally, a non-Triumph that is still pretty darn cool.

Is that the Chino Airport? Our farm was about 4 miles away. Flo's Airport Cafe was where all the dairymen went for breakfast.

Oh man, I wish. Nothing that gets airborne (on purpose anyway) that I can claim as mine.

There is something king of inherently cool (to me anyway) about working on an LBC surrounded by vintage airplanes that are being restored.

Looking good, Tom! How tough was it to pull your apron; are there 2 Volvos I see there ??

Hi Kevin! Apron came off pretty easily actually, a bit of a pleasant surprise. Now getting it back on, well we'll see.

Man, I have to make these pictures smaller or crop them - LOL. Umm, yeah. The Volvo's are breeding...

I agree 100%.We used to have a car show here where you could get a picture of your car next to a RAF Spitfire.

If any of you guys are ever in Orange County let me know and we can run over and check out all the planes under restoration and if we're lucky sneak into Planes of Fame when they are firing up one of the Warbirds.

Too funny. Actually, seeing that it needs a re-core should I (gasp) get rid of that for better cooling? Not a purist move I know...

Only if you are certain you'll never want to use the handcrank! But leaving it out increases cooling by about 10% (according to my radiator shop) so that's the way I went. The tubes that would normally go through the hole get totally blocked off, so contribute almost nothing to cooling.

Tom, I have some stick time in a Stearman as a friend has a beauty. Kinda like a British car at altitude. Noisy, breezy, oil leaky, very similar.

My wife and I had a nice ride in a 1931 Waco at the Transportation Museum here in Maine. We flew over the harbor with leather hats and goggles and landed in a grassy field along the runway. They also have a nice Stearman https://ohtm.org/stearman.html as well as many other planes and autos.
