saw that one - very optimistic. I think some people wrongly equate rarity with value. Or what they have in the car to what its worth.

I never noticed that the $7,500 was his starting price and that there were no bids /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif If it is in excellent shape then I might consider $7,500 to be about right, but not more. Maybe he read my post about another possible classic car boom, and decided to jump the gun? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just my 2 cents worth, but I think it is a nice car. As far as value all I can say is that the more people learn about these cars the more the value will go up. It's still relativly unknown. I have TRs MGs ALFAs etc in various states of disrepair, a J.H. too. I personly think a JH is an absolute bargain, and more fun per pound than most Brits of moderate price. Its looks have even gotten better as it's aged. If you own Brits for what they were intended, the the JH can't be beat. The proof is in the driving.

I would not disagree with you.......I have long been a fan of the Jensen Healey, and would happily own one. Strange that the big Healeys are entering the stratosphere for values (following the E-Types), and that prices for Jensens are high too, but the collaborative effort between the two is still undervalued in the market......good for true enthusiasts, for sure.

I know the shop selling this car fairly well and they're within a few minutes of my house. If anyone here is interested in this car I can easily go have a better look, take pictures and chat with them.

They're known for selling very good cars at slightly high value but they back up their cars very well. If I was looking for a car and was willing to pay a small premium for service and support I'd have no problem dealing with Genry Lane. The guys there rock.

(Standard disclamer applies... No commercial interest, blah, blah, blah)

Now here's another example of not reading it properly......I didn't notice that the car was in Canada either. I saw the Illinois plates and assumed that it was in Chicago. Duh!!!!!!!

A friend of mine purchased one in North Georgia about 2 months ago for less than $4500. It was in Excellent shape and only had 24,000 miles on the odometer. (He drove the car home to South Florida). I think the car on ebay is a little optimistic. I don't think you can have wavey door panels and tired seat cushions for $7500+.

Are you seeing that in the pictures on eBay? Hard for me to tell from those pictures.

Also a JH I saw had a cover over the "fan" belt. This one does not. Should it?

Yup the J H is not a show queen. Is it worth what he is asking? The question is to whom. I can say that it IS a sports car which is something I cant say with a straight face about some of the other mid-70s Brit offerings of that era. If a person is marque particular the J.H. might not apeal to them. If they are open to a good combination of what constitutes a dynamic sports car, with no predjudices, then the price of the Jensen Healey seems a good value in comparison to the price range competetion

Yes, they came with a shroud over the cam belts. Most people remove them. Sometimes the mounts break but more often than not it's to simplify access to the cam pulleys and belt tensioner when doing valve adjustments, belt replacement, etc. It also looks cooler.

That may or may not be the original engine or head. The car has a Mark I serial number but the engine oil filler is Mark II configuration. (Possibly a late Mark I? I don't know all the cutoff points. It has a Mark II interior too.) K&N filters are obviously not original either but are a fairly popular modification.
