Dropped by the bodyshop today to see what has been done while I was out of town. They've started fitting the 'chin spoiler' and are beginning the reshape of the grille area.

I think these changes are going to give the finished product a wider stance while, at the same time, making the hood look not so massive.

Next week, they'll cut the 'chin spoiler' to size, start with fiberglass on the grille surround & mount the hood on its hinges/gas struts for the first time!

- The 'chin spoiler' in the photos still has to be cut to size (probably an inch off) & shaped at the edges.

- The dash surround shaping is in it's first, rudimentary stages (yep, it is going to be smaller & will be almost an oval when finished).

I'll continue adding photos as work progresses.

{Oh, everywhere you see body filler, it's just to skim coat a specific or a skim over the fiberglass....as Jack knows, my bodyman ends putting more body filler on the floor around the car than on the car itself!}

Thanks, Rik...Right now it is in the paint booth as they finish all the fiberglass work & put down the white epoxy primer....long way to go yet; however, they want to start designing the striping to match the car & hardtop.

So, I was at the bodyshop this morning...we've changed final color scheme a little (things happen as she evolves)....gonna go with Porsche Seal Gray metallic for body & for the twin stripes, gonna go with Porsche Polar Silver...& then the clear coats will also have metallic in them! In the sun, it should blind everybody who looks directly at it!

& I'm thinking about powder coating the windshield surround & the vent windows black......need everybody's input on that!

Tony:

Stop with the porn on the internet  and whatever you do, please do not post the powertrain again. I get chest pains when I see it.

I had to go back and look at some of the old side shots.

MMM MMMM Good...

Tony,
I think black on the windshield frame and vent windows would look good. What are you planning on wheels?

Hi Tony, who makes that hard top? I don't think I've ever seen one like it before. That's the nicest top I've seen.

Car looks great, it will be interesting to see it in paint.

I don't like this. That will look rice in my opinion. If anything, I'd just polish them.

Don't know - it's the only one I've ever seen also....was told by the guy I bought it from down in Florida that it was one used on an MGB at Sebring - though I can't confirm that....I do know I can pick it up by myself & set it on the car & it seems to have a little bit more headroom than both the factory and Snug tops.

So, that's:

1 for powder coating windshield & vent windows

1 for polishing windshield & vent windows

But, I really like the rear spoiler...& I think, the way we're putting it together, it will actually be effective!

1 - powdercoating
2 - polishing

Tony here's my vote on the windscreen. If your going to paint it a dark color I'd go with powder coating If you're going with a light or bright color I'd go polished.

Are you still paining it bright blue and MG green? If so I'd vote polished.

Tony, polish the windshield frame! Or matte finish in aluminum, but please no black out! You can pick up the same theme with brushed finish mirrors and wheels if you don't want the "bling" look of higher polish or chrome.

Actually, I would vote for high gloss black. Do the same with the vent window stainless & what amounts to the hardtop 'B' post.

Why?

The shiny black will 'disappear' into the glass under most conditions. You see this on cars from the last 20 years or so. Our copper colored Murano, for example, has a really shiny black paint on the door window frames for this effect.

As we say here in Massachusetts: vote early & often!
