A little primer for Tex Springback Mirror

For the very few of you that might opt for the TEX Springback Winged Mirror, there is a small problem when mounting the driver's side mirror. It strangely won't fully adjust outward for a good rearward view of the road. I fixed this by unscrewing the mirror from its base and inserting between the mirror and the base an appropriately sized copper washer that I cupped with a ball peen hammer to allow more play. The mirror now adjusts perfectly.

Actually, I do want to know this, I picked up a set a while back when you first mentioned them, they are awaiting eventual installation in the next decade or two.

I'm wondering if the issue is also where they are mounted on the door - the photo angle might be fooling me, but I think my mirrors are mounted a little more rear-ward on the door than yours.

Indeed, thanks Don. Larry, they are called the Viewmaster Springback model and are available in right and left side, flat and convex glass. I never realized when I bought mine that I could have gotten the convex glass for the passenger side (<span style="font-style: italic">Objects Are Closer Than They Appear</span>) mirror. I originally got mine from MossUK, but seems you can order directly from the TEX website. While you are there, might as well get a set of TEX wiper blades for your cars. They are the original supplier for Triumph wipers.

Bill,
your quote says
"life is short. Dont look back"

So why do you need a mirror?

Hi,

Looks like they sell a convex bullet (torpedo) mirror too. I wonder why TRF et al do not carry the convex ones?

Sadly it also looks like you can't order from their website.

Cheers

Got home late and saw it. I'm about to retire for the night and peruse the catalog.

BTW.............I'll be picking that part up for you tomorrow and I hope to get it out in the mail tomorrow afternoon as well.

Thanks Paul, that will help advance the project. I might have it ready by summer. Which means the way these things normally go, probably mid summer.
