I bought one of these over 10 years ago before the internet was what it is today. What I'm wondering is if it is the real thing or not.

I see that there is what looks to be a pretty nice reproduction out there, but I want to know if mine is "real." Any help would be appreciated. I'm selling it and don't want to say it's something it isn't.

Thanks, that was interesting. I don't know if it's "original" or not though. I note that the speaker hole os oval in the literature and mine is square but like you said, it could have changed.

The thing is, I bought this 10+ years ago and I don't know of any repros made then.

Possibly no repros commercially produced more than 10 years ago but I recall a set of plans for making one of these. I'm pretty sure it was from my club at the time (TR Reg of SoCal) which would place it in the early 90's.

Now that would make sense. I wondered about the square speaker hole but whoever did it did a very good job, I see no visible welding marks. Thanks.

This console and a Motorola radio was installed in my 3A by the dealer when the PO (original) bought it in 1959. It is definitely a period piece. My plan is to clean it up and install it when we complete the interior.

The Blue TR3 had a Motorola and console something like that when I bought it in 1980. I sold it at the TRA National Meet in Gettysburg for $100 and used the money to buy a top from The Roadster Factory, who were selling parts there.

Who would want a radio in a sports car?
