Pics of run today, 95% British cars. Star of run was 1949 Bristol (I want one).

NICE turnout! Thanks for that trip down memory lane.....

PA Cresta looks good, 1600E Mk2 Concertina, nice yellow Mk3, and I love that little Opel on Brit plates. I also see a Mk2 Escort tucked in there.....

And a Tranny van!!!!! I drove a bunch of those back "in the day", I loved 'em! That old Austin, is that a "big" Seven?

Judging from the British plates on display there, am I to assume that several of these made the trek over from the UK? Otherwise, I can see where people might buy classics from there, but isn't there a requirement to have Irish plates if that is the case?

Thanks for posting those, that made my day!

I was stunned to see a Vauxhall Cresta there. It had original Irish plates. I thought that all Crestas would be up in heaven a long time ago.

I saw the British plates as well. I'm 99% certain they were Irish owned but hadn't been registered yet. I suppose they're kept in garages most of the time or else they would have been stopped by the police.

The interior of the blue MGB and the engine bay of the Wolseley 1500 were absolutely fabulous. And the 1949 Bristol was a star.

Fabulous! Thanks!

The Bristol is stupendous.

That Prefect looks.....well perfect!

And a Trabbie and even a Euro-trash Capri. Neat!

When we've been back, we *never* see any neat cars.

It always seems like such a shame (my cousins *do* say there's better cars in the North).

Possibly. Northern Ireland have their own unique plates, or at least the combination of letters and numbers are unique, but you don't have to re-register a car you bought from the mainland there, and vice-versa, so yes, they could have come from NI. (I recognised a couple of NI plates among the cars).

Yep, that Prefect would be a perfect stable mate for my '48. Thanks for the photos. Great turnout and I'm still drooling ove that Bristol.

Fascinating eye candy for this southwesterner. I could only ID about half of these cars. I am very curious about the make of the all red sedan 902 FXE. Sort of a mid fifties Packard look on a smaller scale. Can you indulge me?

Yes, indeed, they regularly reviewed sporting cars; another one I recall was a road-going Ford GT- with heated seats which struck me as most peculiar.

Lots of things to lust after in those magazines... I wish I'd kept them all now.... :jester:
