TR2/3/3A TR3 build dates

Where is the best place to get a copy of any info on the TR3 that I have? Build dates, color, options etc.

Bill Piggott's book, <span style="font-style: italic"> Original Triumph TR3 </span> seems to be the best source for general info about commission number ranges, colors, etc., by year. I have a copy, and would be glad to give you the info that I have if you'll post/PM your commission number.

Short of that, you can apply to the British Motor Heritage Trust for a complete record of your particular car. Info here

Join Triumph Register of America and get a Build Record for $20. It's cheaper than a BMHIT Certificate and has about the same information.

I paid $20.00 to TRA about 20 years ago and found out that mine was "born" on Valentines Day. I notice on the Heritage Record that the engine number is also listed whereas my copy does not list the engine number. But I know my engine is the original engine because I bought my 1958 TR3A brand new here in Montreal a little more than 50 years ago.

Nick - This is only my guess. When cars were shipped by sea, I assume some may have had extra protection sprayed on and under them if the cars were loaded on the deck where they would be exposed to the salt air and salt spray. So the cars would need to be cleaned fully to remove this "whatever". I suppose if this is true, then mine may have been loaded into one of the lower inner decks or the cargo bay, so it didn't need to be slushed because I assume that all it needed would be a waxing to make it ready for delivery and wouldn't need to be cleaned if it didn't have this extra "whatever" on the car.

But only S-T or the Heritage Center might know for sure.

I have the same certificate as yours Don, except that I got mine through Bill Piggott as I was a member of the TR Register at the time. I think it only cost me £5 which was considerably less than a Heritage Certificate.
I think the Heritage Certificate gives a little more information, such as the key numbers.
My car was built on the 22nd December 1959 and I notice that it didn't have a heater when it left the factory. However, it did when it was bought by its first owner in Chicago. Similarly the occasional rear seat was not fitted at the factory.
I also notice that mine had 590 whitewall tyres and there is nothing specified under "Special Notes"
