Am I crazy? [more Skoda adventures/thoughts]

Finally went tonight to see the 1989 Skoda... (see BCF thread below)
Previous Skoda thread on BCF

It was a very nice car! And in excellent condition for the age of the vehicle. It's actually quite desireable because it's the 1350cc four-cylinder with fuel-injection (5-speed) as opposed to the relatively more common 1200cc non-fuel-injection (4-speed) most Canadian cars have. And it sounds like few of the four door sedan models worldwide have this combination.

Anyway, I think I might actually purchase it. I don't have extra cash laying around right now, but my present car (1989 Plymouth Sundance) is probably worth about the same amount of money as he wants for the Skoda... And according to the guy the Skoda's are excellent winter cars (rear engine/RWD), so according to him it is an excellent year-round daily driver even here in Alberta.

I figure I can do the swap without spending any extra money, as the Skoda is basically ready for the road as is and he has done lots of work on it recently. The only thing is that I will probably have to sell the Sundance on my own and offer him the money then as he has little interest in the Sundance.

Am I crazy? Maybe... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif This swap (if it works out) wouldn't affect the Cortina purchase directly.

Then again you only live once... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

one of my mates used to hasve one of those. it was a 1989 (F reg) 120 five speed. it was the basic model, so the interior was quite basic, but it was immense fun to drive. it was really easy to throw about on little country lanes, but seemed just as happy cruiseing on the motorway. definately ggo for it mate - they can be really goood fun

Hmmm...

The concensus seems to be yes! Will have to do my best to make it happen... Next order of business - anyone want a 1989 Plymouth Sundance? Going for cheap... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

hey why not? Those late 80s/early 90s Chrylsers weren't exactly the most reliable things around. The only issue I can see is getting parts in a timely fashion.
