1947 Standard Flying 14 Info

I bought a Standard Flying 14 over the weekend. I have other British cars and have been a member here for a year or more. I have been able to find very little info on this model Standard. Are there any known in this country? Who can I contact for info? The car has been under restoration for many years. It is dissasembled but much has been restored. It will be a beautiful saloon car when finished. I would love to hear from anyone who is familiar with these cars.

Just looked up some pictures on the internet and that will be one unique and neat little car. Best of luck. What color will it be?

Sounds like a neat car!

I don't suspect you'll find much specific support for it over here, but there should be some British-based clubs and/or Australian-based clubs where these cars would be more common.

Also, there is a generic British Saloon Car Club of Canada I'm involved with (lots of American members as well) that you might find useful, currently at 500+ members so quite big - www.geocities.com/motorcity/7967

I believe there may be a few cars like that in North America around but not many, I think I've seen pictures of one in British Columbia on a website, and I received an e-mail quite some time ago about someone selling one that had been brought in from Australia. And I'm sure there may be more than that hiding around on the continent...

Thanks for the comments and Links. With the little research I did before I bought the car I assumed It was going to be difficult to find info on this car. It is a long term project (after my td) and will be worth the effort as it is unique and probably rare in these parts. Luckily the car is very complete and the chassis is mostly restored but not assembled yet. The body is rust free and has been dipped and epoxy primed. The car was originally a pale blue with black fenders. It will remain the same. The leather and mohair interior was also blue. The interior is well aged but sufficiant for patterns. I am dropping off the wheels to fit new tires so I can move the chassis around. My neighbor is building a body dolly to help move it arround. I have a three car garage with 4 cars in it currently (if the isseta counts). I will spend the weekend adding a carport to the side of the garage for this project.
