TR6 tr6 exhaust

It’s time for a new muffler. I want to keep the look stock so I am looking at the stainless steal Falcon Exhaust or the mild steal OEM muffler. Are there any advantages in performance from the Falcon exhaust or is the only advantage its longevity? Are their any other mufflers that look stock for the Tr6’s that people use?
The Falcon exhaust is a lot more expensive than the mild steal mufflers, are they worth the price?

I had a Meineke SS muffler on mine for 28 years that I gave away when I replaced everything under the car and it was fine.

I replaced it with the Falcon system and with my headers it sounds just great, IMHO, of course. It is a bit more "throaty" than the stock unit (even with all of the miles), so the sound will be a lot better as far as I'm concerned.

I guess that my answer is, the SS is worth it for longevity, the Falcon is worth it for the sound.

You can get stock in stainless from Moss. Sounds fine to me, but then it's paired with a header.

I still love the combo pack of my Monza's with the header
Good performance and great sound!

Can there be anything more personal then the sound of your exhaust! There was a Monza system on my car when I got it 10 years ago. It set off every car alarm I drove by, especially in a parking garage, and the droning at 50 - 65 mph drove me nuts. So I replaced it with the stock mild steel system which has a nice sound (for me)and is still going strong after 10 years.

Kodanja.....you going to Brits by the Sea?

Can someone with the Falcon system show me some pictures of it installed on their car? It looks stock right?

This is prior to the final alignment to level the muffler. Yes, it looks just like a stock system and fits the same.

That's the Falcon? Interesting - I thought it was two rear boxes like the Moss sports exhaust. That back box looks exactly like the one I got in the stock stainless setup from Moss.

Alan,

You may be right. Mine is made in England by Falcon Exhaust and I got it from TRF. They may also make they dual muffler SS setup that I think you are referring to.

Brosky, thanks for the pictures, I think I will be buying that Falcon set up.

Shannon, I usually don't like the way the dual mufflers look on these Tr6's (call me crazy) but yours looks really nice. If I didn't already decide to go for the stock look I may have taken that into consideration. What type of exhaust is that?

Inherit,

My journey to get that exhaust setup was probably one of borderline obsession. It wasn't cheap, mainly because it went through 4 iterations before I settled on the current design... but I have to say I'm proud of the results.

Here's the finished product:

And here's a link to a writeup about my custom exhaust nightmare:

I would have done it the same way if a little incident called a complete engine rebuild hadn't gotten in the way.

I love my Monza exhaust, even though it can be a little droning at crusing speeds. Its not really annoying for me but annoying for a passenger. Theres just something uniquely "badass" about a tiny british car with 4 exhaust tips shooting right out the back. And that note on acceleration, you cant beat it. I find myself riding the car harder then I would if i had stock exhaust though, haha something to think about.
