ok, so i'm getting ready to paint up the exterior of my engine and put it all together. i've been thinking about this some time and can't figure out how to paint the engine apart without ending up with unpainted metal exposed after assembly. the main area i've thought of is the front of the block that the front plate doesn't cover. it looks like the front of the block should be smooth like the top of the block, so that says no paint to me, but rusting? i guess i'd like to hear opinions, i'm probably just making this too hard.
i've already painted the timing cover and oil pan (outside only), both plates and the mounting attachments.
