Strange question

This is a pointless pondering, but I was wondering, assuming the TR4 IRS through TR6 essentially were built on the same platform, is it possible, and has anyone ever built, a Michelotti/Karmann hybrid? In other words, would it be possible to build a car with a tr6 front end and a tr4 boot, or vice versa? I don't know that anyone would want to, but the thought just crossed my mind.

Jhn- I really don't know how they'd mesh visually. The Karmon is so square and Michelotti is so round. Kind of a square hole and a round peg deal.

I dunno, I think the 6 front with a 4 rear would be kinda neat. The doors are the same between the two, so it'd be a seamless transition.
It'd definatly make some folks scratch thier heads.
Dunno if a 6 rear on a 4 front would be as neat. errgg....
The two cars share a lot so it's actually be quite easy.
If you used a 4 rear, you'd want to get the windscreen frame from the 4 so you'd have the right connectors fot the top (or vice versa,) but otherwise it'd just be welding the two halves togeather.

How long have you been smoking that stuff? You know, you can get help quitting? But, you have to want to quit.
I think this thought came to me after inhaling a lot of iron oxide dust and paint fumes!

Banjo, I think that was more what I was imagining (6 front, 4 rear). I agree that the reverse probably would be a pretty odd match. Maybe I should buy some plastic models and toy with it. This is not something I was considering in real life. Just wondering if it had ever been attempted like the Spit6 combo had.

Nicely done, Ken! How about the reverse?

Bill, unfortunately (or fortunately?), I don't have nitrous in my practice. I'm afraid of turning into Steve Martin's character from Little Shop of Horrors with the portable nitrous pack on his back!

John,
When I rebuilt my TR4A many years ago I used a TR6 rear body tub. The guy who did the bodywork had to change the rear valance and panels surrounding the boot lid and he also extended the inner wings to take the TR4 wings. This was done because the previous owner had made a new boot floor out of a filing cabinet and there wasn't any metal worth keeping from the B-post back.
So, a TR6 rear end will fit on the chassis.
