Uh...no, I won't. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Silly...and totally wonderful cars. Got a chance to ride in one back in '97 and thoroughly enjoyed said ride. In a strange sort of way, it's kinda like having a big old American convertible, only even cooler!

Go for it if you're really interested.

I'd imaging parts would be a challenge...
Not so bad as one might think. Like everything else of the era, there are lots of proprietary bits (Lockheed, Lucas, etc., etc.), and the running gear itself is mostly Standard Vanguard-based.

Also, I hear that the Triumph Roadster Club is very, very good and supportive. And there are a goodly number of these cars in the US, so you've others with whom to commiserate!

If you love it, buy it!

I'm not a fan of the styling myself, (the word bulbous comes to mind) but I will say this: Pat & Marty Jones' 1800 Roadster always draws a big crowd everywhere it goes!

Bulbous!?
How about curvaceous and voluptuous. That makes it sound sexy, which it certainly is. Wish I had the money/time.

Why would we want to persuade you from buying such a fabulous vehicle?

Nothing like a little support! you know you NEED that car and look it is even reasonably close by. Looks like it will be a blast to cruise around in.

tdskip....I actually threw a few early bids on it myself....but it quickly became to rich for my blood and still hasn't reached the reserve. If you love the T2's you probably saw the nice one couple months back on ebay that went for $30k...Good Luck

Good chance you would be the only one in the neighborhood to own one. Might as well put in your bid and see how you do.

Oh man - you guys are TROUBLE. LOL.

I chickened out in the face of the TR3 engine rebuild. Something about needing to pay for all of this entered my mind as well....

Never mind - the new welder arrived today. Whoo Hoo!

Well, there's no accountin' for taste. I stand by Bulbous. Cool car for all it's bulbousness, however.

No, wait. Stop. Come back.

Ok, being a nut, here goes:

Chopped and channeled. TR8 engine chromed out. Shaved. Tubbed, though not much to keep from ruining the rumble seats. Add about 1' to the length of the car at the windscreen base to exaggerate its inverted breast-like bulbousness. Feather the tail a little.

Presto.

A cool hotrodized Triumph that will have some '53 Plymouth guy totally baffled...

Sometimes you feel like a nut...

The danger must be growing, because the rowers keep on rowing...
