this is a longshot but I'm asking around wherever I can think. I'm trying to track down a 1956-58? Lagonda Tickford Coupe that was for sale in the Auto Trader (Ontario) about 10 years ago. I seem to recall that the car was originally in the (519) area code - I think Barrie. I'm also pretty sure it went to Thedford Mines Quebec. It no longer had the Aston Engine, it was a Volvo engine.

any leads? any other places to look?

actually the Lagonda had a Lagonda engine and that was subsequently used in the DB2, DB3 cars. That engine was the reason David Brown bought Lagonda. W.O. Bentley was at Lagonda when that engine was built and I'm sure he had a lot of input into it.

Fancy putting a Volvo engine in it's place!

Those "saddle" mains were a real joy to assemble. The cams in the DB2, DB3 were a bit long tho. Kinda scary when considering the metallurgy of the day and the age of the things now. But a Volvo engine would be sacrelidge, IMO. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

The 519 area code is more east of there than Barrie.
London is the main center and it runs from Kitchener to Sarnia and Windsor. This may make it easier to track the original owner down.

So I looked and somehow there seems to be two addresses - the first Lagonda/ MacArthur seems to be an address in NJ while the other in Thedford Mines is another steel company - not sure how that works but we'll keep looking

Update - I seem to have located the car. Put out a call on Craigslist/Kijiji and got a reply from a friend of the owner. well, I got the answer,

sorry for my bad english, yes the car was sent to crusher, the frame was rotten.not a very good car for our winters here.

The scrap ward gave us $200.00 for the car.

Wanted to resurrect this thread because of what just showed up on Bring A Trailer - I doubt this is the one I was looking for before as I suspect it truly was crushed. But, same car and frankly a better engine than the Volvo of before.

Sigh - I can dream..... :cryin:
