Drove out to Ohio in a rental car and 834 miles back in my latest Ebay aquisition.
Car: excellent.
My back and legs: showing signs of age and wear!

Looks nice, Stirkle! You are a brave one, soldier, to drive a new acquisition home that far. Looks like a real survivor. First thing off, you need new rear springs. Typical Triumph squat. Show us more pics. And a hardtop yet!

Wow!! Congrats on a nice looking and functional
car. 834 miles without a break down!! That must
be some sort of distance record for a Triumph.

Congrats and enjoy your car.

Congratulations - she looks nice.

I drove my '73 Spitfire back from Seattle to Orange County CA... Original cars that have had sympathetic car will take that sort of mileage in stride. But cars like that are not easy to find.

I really didn't think that the exhaust was loud at all. I noticed that I could change the pitch at will with a little gas, in and out of overdrive, etc. They sound very nice, but they are going south in favor of a stainless steel factory looking exhaust eventually.

The rear sag in the picture is probably because it was still full of misc books, parts and my stuff that I took with me.
Listing picture below, it sits pretty even with empty trunk.

Later today it is going to my mechanic so we can check everything.
Will follow up on how it checks out.

Dale, I had an essentially trouble-free 2550-mile round trip in my '62 Herald five years back. I did have a dodgy voltage regulator, but it never totally gave out. But heck, I'd only had the car three weeks when I set out. It had been fairly well maintained but almost never driven (700 miles in 13 years) by the previous owner -- who was NOT named P*d*o! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Wow, hard top AND overdrive! Nice! I found my TR6 through ebay, but did not purchase it through ebay. I went up to visit my brother in Bellingham, WA and then went to look at the car in Victoria, B.C. I knew at once I wanted it and purchased it, then drove it home to San Jose, CA- about 1000 miles. No problems. But, I wish I had a hard top and overdrive. Congratulations!

That's a nice TR6 - love them in that colour as it was one the same colour that a guy in my town owned in the early 70's which inspired me to one day own my own TR6.

I admire you bravery too with an unknown car. I however drove 4,000 miles around Europe last year in my TR6 and it performed brilliantly.

I took my TR4A to Elkhart Lake and back (about 1200 miles round trip) 3 times with no problems except a flat tire (loose spokes I later learned). TRs are great road cars.

But it does take nuggets to do that kind of trip in a car you don't know, I bet you went from "I hope we can make it back OK" to "this is a pretty nice car" from the beginning of the trip to the end.

Congrats on the purchase, the car looks really nice, and she apparently has the "legs" to go with a nice body.
