I would look at your whole brake system.Have you replaced the flex hoses as this can certainly relate to hard stopping. The steel lines need to be blown clear at the very least if not replaced as rust could be possible inside due to the fluid being capable of carrying moisture. The MC can be weak with possible by pass and need redone. How about the calipers and the rear cylinders? Are they in excellent condition?A good addition is a good servo.I believe it is Paul Norton over there that will help you.I do hope I remember this person correctly but I do not know how to contact him.
The Alpine brakes are generally very good.In general the V6 conversions with the HP numbers being close to 200 have no problems.I drove my 62 V6 with 170HP for 177000 plus miles trouble free.Of course I did do pads and shoes in that time.
Also it is time to consider the Tiger. The system is the same mind you the Calipers are oh so slightly different but really are the same. Many Tiger owners have updated to 300 plus HP and are quite capable of stopping with their brakes.
Wildwood has calipers I believe that will do the front. If you go to Sunbeamalpine.org and do a search you will find info on rear caliper conversions.
Hope this helps
