TR6 TR6- water leaking through tail lights

Hello,
I need more help again. It looks like I have two places left that water is leaking into my trunk: the right tail light and left tail light. I put in new gaskets between the lenses and body, but it is still leaking. So, my question is do I need to just tighten down everything down more, or do I also need to use some kind of gasket seal? If I do need a gasket seal, what kind do people suggest?

Do NOT use a gasket sealant. When you take the assembly off again in the future, you will take the paint with it. Just crank down evenly on the small nuts inside the trunk evenly across the tail light housing until the foam gasket is almost or maybe even touching your body. This will stop the leak, assuming you have new gaskets.

Water can leak past the lens, the Brits even provided a drain(usually plugged up) for this eventuality, but it can also get in there through the seam between the fender and the body around the tail light box, the trunk lip, or other joints. From inside the trunk area check for rust up under the top of the body and the tail light box.

Line your trunk with newspaper and masking tape.
Close the trunk lid.

Spray hose water along the lowest portions of the trunk
from the exterior. Stop frequently, open the trunk
lid and look for water stains on the newspaper.

Work you way upward to higher elevations with frequent
stops and open the trunk to inspect.

The water test should define your problem to a point
of entry.

Thanks guys. I ran a hose all around the trunk area. I fixed the area where it came through in throught the filler neck. It is not coming in through the fenders or around the trunk seal that I can see. The trunk had no plugs on the bottom of the trunk area, and now I can see why. The previous gaskets were either missin or rotting. Water is definately coming in from the lens and the gasket between the light housing. I did put in new gaskets. I'll try taking them apart and retighten a little better and see what happens.
