Re: MOMENT OF INSANITY?

OK...the winter makeover plans are starting to form in my dreams....a Van/Traveller....I've done some of my before after pics and it looks pretty sharp with wood trimming like it's brother the traveller. Couple questions for other traveller owners....

1) from what I have researched the original wood is ASH. Is there an original color of STAIN, what's the best way to FINISH...high gloss varnish and best way to MOUNT to body...

I know there are other MINOR sites but I enjoy keeping my fellow BCF members busy....THANKS

Re: MOMENT OF INSANITY?

Those little Moggy vans were once a very common sight around the UK, especially in the Royal Mail livery.

The GPO telephones division used green-painted vans, with the front wings made out of black rubber! Speaks volumes about their confidence in the driving skills of their techies........

Re: MOMENT OF INSANITY?

Mike...thanks for the link....I actually collect minatures of my collector cars...I bid a Dinky 62 red Sprite still in the box against someone a few months back at let them have it at US$100 and still kick my butt since I've never seen a new one since.....I will bid this baby as well....what do you think of the idea of wodding it like the traveller or should I leave it as is?...

BTW: Steve, I was checking out a NEW ZEALAND Morris Club site where the vans are quite popular and there were several with the side windows so it must be an option since this one came from there....does anyone know?

I'm actually setting here watching Bizzarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern tonight Foods of the UK, Jugged Hair, Haggis, Christmas Pudding, Oxheart, Stewed EEL, aged Pidgeon...YUM..no wonder we wanted Independence!!!

Re: MOMENT OF INSANITY?

Pix of my ex Morris Van "Van Morris" are in the Member's Car's section under "Other British". I think the New Zealander's added the windows. I couldn't find much info.

Check out Turky's also:

Mini-mania for engine parts. A guy near me who has 6, 8, ? so many Morris's for everything else.

Try British Auto Parts in Oregon. Guy's name is Jim. He has it all.

Thanks for the compliment!

I also like to collect select miniatures (only cars that mean something to me)!
I just saw a red sprite (in the box!)as you describe when I found the Moggie...it was up to $149 :e. I would leave the Moggie model just as is, it's close enough!!

Bibber, here is the link to the Sprite (only one I have seen!):

While I was in Heidelburg, I bumped into a little store on a side street that specialized in auto miniatures - he had some great LBC stuff & I could've easily dropped several hundred Euros had Jerri not been standing there!

You need to not have a home office. Perhaps you could subdivide and register the garage as a seperate postal address. Ain't no way she's finding anything hidden in there - 'cepting maybe the CAB

FWIW the "record" was the boat I saw where the owner had bought and restored it to the tune of $60k without telling his wife - all bills came to the office. I saw the boat for sale at 17k - what it was actually worth
