TR2/3/3A Tr-3 Adj Steering wheel circlip

My 56 Tr-3 has the adjustable steering wheel, the circlip that holds it on is M.I.A. {missing in action} the big three suppliers don`t list them or list them as N/A.
Does anyone know what I can use for this circlip, where I can get such a critter? Have any pics of what it might look like? {Possibly I can manufacture something that will work if I can see what it looks like} OR if you have a spare that you are willing to part with lets talk!

First of all, I'm sorry that you have an adjustable wheel. Those suckers start out closer to you then the standard wheel, and can only be moved closer still until you're chewing on the edge of the wheel. That's why the outer rims on them are always messed up. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Anyway, I went up into the loft where I have one of those suckers, and checked for the circlip on the splined shaft. Well, mines MIA also. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer.gif But, it looks like a regular type circlip should go in there. Go to McMaster and type in the 'find' box "circlip", and it will show you what you're looking for. I have a gut feeling that the type of clip that Triumph used didn't have the holes for the snap ring pliers, but just had inward angles on the end of the clip that used flat bladed pliers to remove and put on. Either way, the groove looks narrow, so be sure to measure it so you can get one that fits the groove. Most of those clips without the holes were thin.

On my TR3A it is simply a spring steel wire ring in the form of a almost closed letter C. The wire is tick enough to keep the steering wheel from being pulled past the end of the column. An alternative to making one would be to get an external circlip that would fit.
