We had a good race weekend at Pocono Raceway (south road course) last weekend.
Robin Quivers (Howard Stern's sidekick) came to do some promo stuff and asked if one of our driver's could take her around the track. Julie, our Time Trial Chair took her for a pretty fast ride in her 5.0 Mustang. Ms. Quivers was nice and all, but I'm not a big fan of her boss, so I didn't bother to take any pictures. I'm always happy to have some PR for EMRA, but not if it's connected to Howard Stern.
Anyway, I brought my car with 4 different DOT race radials (1 Hoosier, 1 Kumho, and 2 different size Yokos). Things are getting pretty "ghetto" for the #11. Still, it ran great and was reliable. My pal Bruce, brought his #61 1275 Mini and it was much faster than me, but he ended up having fuel pickup problems in the race so I was able to get past him. Our other pal, Pete, in a 1275 Mk II Sprite (#23) siezed a diff after about 10 laps and was DNF. So I won in class by virtue of being "the last man standing".
At one point during practice, Bruce spun the Min while I was following him. I came to a halt face-to-face about two feet from him. Pretty funny.
Later, a Golf closed the door on the Mini and tapped his front fender. Said Golf then spun due to the contact and was Tee-boned by a second Golf. Since it looked like Bruce "spun him", we're now calling him "Tony Stewart". I have to get a Home Depot sticker for his Mini.
Next up is BeaveRun in 4 weeks.
