Proper Engine Oil Temperature?

Tinster here with another stupid question.
The Crypt Car was briefly operational this
past Monday. Maybe 15 minutes total time
of the engine running both at idle and at
maybe 25 MPH tops. Oil pressure around 65 psi
at 25 MPH. Outside air temperature was around 82*

I had my infrared gun with me. The water temp.
gauge read 185* which the IR confirmed at 183*.
Curiously, the bottom of the radiator read 168*.
Radiator brand new. Coolant fluid bubbled over
into the plastic jar when I shut down the engine.
I figure that's normal.

I shot many spots on the engine block with the IR
and got a temp range of 240* to 280*
Is this temperature range in the OK zone?
Or should I be looking for oil overheating problems?

The heater and all pipes and hoses used in the heater
system were removed by the idiot PO.

As always, thanks for the input.

With temps in the 80's during the winter, who needs a heater? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

The bubbling is normal, no major problem. That's why the jar is there and it will pull it back if and when it needs it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif

My infra red shows about the same, so I guess that you are fine. Can't quite do the burgers on the block in under 6 minutes, but still not too hot. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

Dale I get about the same readings on my 73 TR6. However I don't get any bubbling over. I too have a new radiator. It used to bubble over until I completely flushed my system. I also found that the passage where the block drain plug is was plugged. I used a coat hanger and various pieces of wire to free it up. Once all this was done it no longer bubbled over when I shut the engine off. Even during the summer. Hope this helps.
