"New" Redline

I've got an original Reline for a spare tire-
- for my TR6.It still has the original sticker on it.
I believe this is the one that came with the car.
Good for car shows,if you have an original car.
What's it worth?

Re: "New" Redline

I had a new-old, or is that an old-new, Redline for a spare. I had to let the air out to get it out because it expanded so much it could not get past the tire well rim. I wonder if it might have blown apart if left.

Honestly, not much. A 30-year-old tire is totally unsafe, even as a spare. Not quite sure why someone would want a spare as old as their car. Flats do happen, even on the way to a show, and wouldn't want to depend on a hazardous tire for emergencies. That said, I am sure there are some out there still cruising on their original tires. Godblessem. I have a friend that blew out two (2) original redlines at speed. It was not a pretty sight. Lucky he didn't get killed. His TR6 was killed.

Re: "New" Redline

I was just thinking of someone who wanted it for show -
- not to drive on.
I'm going to need new tires soon,& thought this might
help offset the cost of them.

I guess I knew that, Doug. And you implied that in your original post. I suppose I was concerned that someone might really might want to use it as a street spare, not thinking about safety. Was just thinking about my friend and his naiveté.

Re: "New" Redline

Doug, I am interesrted to know if it is a Goodyear G800 redline or a Michelin Redline?
My old TR6 had what appeared to be its original spare, and I was the cars second owner, and it was a Goodyear Redline.
This seems to have been quite common, I think the Michelins must have been an option.
Thanks, Simon.

Simon:
I have a pretty nice looking GoodYear Redline too (in the trunk) and I wish they were the ones remarketed today because they have an agressive, sportscar looking tread.

The tires are old and unsafe but I saw a set on 6-pack with a hefty price tag on it a few months ago.

It's a Michelin.
