I am a long time owner of a TR3 which I have owned since 1974. I recently put wire wheels on and used the 14" MGB wires with 60 spokes as they
should be stronger than the 48 spokes that were original on the TR3. Hope to have her back on the road shortly. I have made sure the wheels are true and spokes tight to a nice ring. Anyone have experience with wire wheels to share. Car sure looks good with them on.

Unless you put on a high aspect tire(175/80r 14) you will be dragging the ground at every dip in the road.
I suggest the daytons in the 15in x 60 spk I have 6 years and 40k mi mine, with only minor tunning.

Hello TR,

make sure you keep the splines\tapers well lubricated to stop the wheel seizing on the splines. I used a coppergrease on mine.

I have 185/70/14 which is about the only size I could get good tires in. The overall dia is the same as the 155x15 that came off the car. If I have problems with these used wheels I plan on going to the 15" 60 spoke all new and sell the tires to some MGB guy. Thanks for the advise. I greased the splines very good and plan to do that often.

TR3, Good show , the 185's may scuff the inner aprons a bit but the handling will be nice. If you have used hubs, watch for "sharpening" it is a sign of the wheel moving on the hub, hammering the splines to a point.Some re-conditioning is possible, but replacement is best.

PS, I hope you checked the inside of the tires for the dreaded warehouse stickers!! These chaffe the tubes over time causing mysterious flats that tire shops cant seem to find or fix.
