Hey Folks,

HELP!!!

I became the owner of a "77 MGB due to the demise of a brother in law with the brakes shot.

I determined the booster for the brakes was blown out. Replaced it. Next on the agenda was to rebuild the master cylinder.

Now I have the MC on my bench in pieces and don't remember how I took it apart.

Now the question. Does anyone know of where I canget a drawing of the assembly of the MC??

Thanks for ANY help you can offer.

Do you have a Moss catalog? It has expanded drawings of the cylinders & boosters? Call 1-800-667-7872 to order a free copy.

Was his demise caused by his shot brakes?

The Moss MG catalog that I have doesn't have pictures of late model MC. The best is the Robert Bentley book 'The Complete Official MGB 1975-80' and even that won't tell you everything you need to know. Every mechanic and experienced Brit car person whose advice I've ever heard always say don't rebuild a master cylinder unless there's nothing wrong with it. The smartest one went on to say "and you will ignore my advice and do it anyway and learn first-hand why you can't." And so after wasting the $20 on a rebuild kit- but going through a good practise run- it took a new master cylinder before I finally had brakes. The stock brakes in these cars are marginal at best, compromising any element of the system is very detrimental to your health. You won't regret spending the bucks for the feeling of confidence.

Digital Camera.... I always take photos of the removal process. That way I have a reference of how the part came off of my car.
