Wipers won't park

Worked on the wipers this weekend because they won't park themselves after shut off. Checked all connections at the plug to make sure they were getting good contact.
Planning some longer trips in the next two months and would like to function properly.
After this project, it's on to the switch to try to get good contact at both speeds.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Had a girlfriend once with the same problem (wouldn't park).

By 'won't park' I suppose you mean they just stop wherever they are when you switch them off.

Since you say 'both speeds' I assume this is the TR6. If it has a drive head similar to your TR3A then there is a thin metal arm inside it that tracks on a disc and maintains power to the wipers until they reach a blank spot on the disc and then they park. Adjustment is by loosening the body of the drive head and rotating the cap that contains that disc (and the drive gear). Sometimes that arm can get broken or just bent and doesn't make contact -- then you have no park.

If you are using an aftermarket wiper switch, you might have it wired backwards. If not, some aftermarket switches are themselves made wrong and require your moving the connections around. If it is an original switch, your detent switch is broken inside the wiper assembly. You may have to send it off to get it reworked. A completely shorted out detent switch will constantly short out your harness and burn fuses like crazy, and you will have no tail lights. Look at the wiring diagram and you will see that they are in the same circuit. A quick "fix" is to cut the wire in the harness to the detent switch till you get it fixed.
