Painting Rostyle Wheels

There may be earlier posts on this question but I couldn't find any that answered my questions. First, are there 13" paint masks available? I have found 14" Rostyle paint masks but not 13" paint masks. Are the paint masks good to use or do you use masking tape? Second, what paint brand and color do you use for the aluminum and the black? Is the black glossy or satin? Thanks.

I've heard many people were not happy with the preformed masks. I've seen much better results from hand taping, but I decided to skip this task and just buy minilite type rims.

I grab black & silver wheel paint off the rack at Advance Auto - & clear to top it off...some people swear by masks, others tape off & spray...me, hand painting the black is easiest way to go.

Problem with powdercoating wheels is you can't touch up when they get nicks & dings....which they will.

i did mine by taping. Masking tape is ok for the larger areas. but i bought some fine line tap at the local napa that was easier to work with, it bends better around the corners. By the time i was done i was getting pretty good at it.

I always use masking tape. The mask allow over spray to get under them. The problem with rattle can is IT WILL NOT LAST. You might get a year out of it. If you have a gun do them with a good 3 part enamel and top it off with a urithan clear. That will last for 20 years of everyday driving.

I think I agree with you and I'll use masking tape. I need to clean & sand the wheels first. Maybe have them bead blasted.

Yep, sand blast, primer, paint/mask/paint/clear coat...oh, then when you have them balanced tell the guy to put all the weights on the backside of the wheel so no weights show.
