I have to install a water pump, possibly tomorrow night, but more likely Tues or Wed. Depends if John has one in stock because I'm not spending $129 at Advance Auto for one.

Chuck's leaving 4:30 tomorrow morning, gone a week, possibly 2. I'm not leaving Emma sit that long and not drive her. I'm going to need simple but detailed instructions, from pulling the radiator on.

Seems my water pump is about to fail. It's leaking water, rattling and pulleys loose. GRRRR. Just put this one in back in December.

I have a new one here for Binabox, but it won't fit in Emma, pulleys or something, not sure. Anyway, if John has one in stock, I'm picking it up tomorrow early evening. Would like to at least get the radiator drained and pulled tomorrow night (have to work around Prison Break)

So. Who volunteers?

Or you can come to the house for homemade lasagna, grilled homegrown asparagus, homemade bread, a big salad, dessert and beverages of choice and do it for me.

Janel - do you have the Bentle manual for your car?

Now, don't get upset...the easiest way would be for us to point you to the proper pages & you could just follow the instructions - step by step.

It would save us all the headache we went through when Keenan wanted to know how to fix his engine - remember that?

We have a Haynes and a Bentley for the '75. I can do anything if someone tells me how to or walks me through it. But I'm an awful 'visual' learner, just to read it. I can find the pages, already have.

I can do this. I really want to do this myself. I could take Emma over to guys night at the garage and bat my eyes and get the guys to do it for me tomorrow night, but I want to.

Chuck! Hiya! Where are you in Indiana?

You lost me at the asparagus.

But I know you can handle this, especially with a manual in front of you!

Scratch the asparagus, how about grilled corn on the cob?

I'm sure I can do this.

Okay, toss the Haynes..go to the Bentley & open to the section on removing the radiator...after you have it out, come on back to us...

I've got the Bentley in front of me, have read pages 128 and 129 three times. It's straightforward enough. I don't think I'm going to drain and pull the radiator tonight any more though. Was out in the 88 degree sun since 8:30 this morning at the car show, I'm tired and sunburned and it's not time to start a tear down. AND I want to make sure I have a pump tomorrow.

I'll check on a pump tomorrow (John thinks he has one in stock) and tear into it tomorrow evening. Do I need gaskets or seals or will everything I need come with the pump?

Gasket should come with pump - check in the box before you pay for it...

When was the last time you had the radiator cleaned & pressurized?
When was the last time you bought a new radiator cap?
When was the last time you replaced the radiator hoses?
When was the last time you replaced the belts?

All of that was done last summer, before August. And we pulled the radiator and had it at the shop about that time as well.

All new belts, all new hoses everywhere.

K - oh, don't try to keep the anti-freeze..dispose of it...pick up a new gallon when you get the water pump....its not worth the hassle of straining, etc.

I knew that.

I already picked up a gallon today when I stopped at Advance Auto and played the 'do you have a water pump for a '75 MGB' game with the clerks.

I need a water pump for a '75 MGB.

Sure thing, who makes them?

MG.

What model is it?

B.

I figured if I just didn't pour the last bit in it would be okay, but I already have a gallon here so it's no biggie.

Makes perfect sense to me. And the grammar is correct as is the puncuation.

Ah, figured it out - that last part was a conversation between you and the kid behind the parts counter.

Janel,

I thought you got a new water pump when you got all the other stuff done last year? Is it maybe under warranty where you got it? Did you get it from Moss?
