Convertible.
Nice car. Much much lower and wider than it looks in the pictures. Guy told me the waiting list was less than a year if anyone is in the market...

Me either... They look a little like the new Maserati though... I've heard those are depreciating quicker than marshland after a nuclear blast.... might.. maybe.. be affordable one day. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If I had the money for a DB9, I would buy a DB5.

seen a couple DB9s running around my area (or maybe it's the same one I keep seeing over and over /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif)... nice car for sure... a little "big" for my taste though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

DB5 would be awsome.

Well since the preferencial model year seems to be declining. I guess you could save a bit more if you got a DB4---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Me too.
Or a 2 year old vanquish.

Yeah, but then you'd want the new Vanquish S. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I saw a new Maserati coupe roll through an intersection the other day while visiting my inlaws. I had to do a double take, at first I thought it was either the AM or a new Jag XK. They are all starting to look a bit similar.

I think all 3 were designed by the same guy.

Well, two of them were. Ian Callum was the designer of the Aston Martin DB9 (as well as the previous DB7) and is also the stylist behind the Jag lightweight coupe and the new XK. In fact, I believe he was recently appointed overall head of design at Jag while still retaining that title at AM. The Maserati was designed by Italdesign, which unless Callum was moonlighting over there as well (when would he sleep?) I don't think he had anything to do with it. The similarity is strong though. At least Jag/AM has a guy with talent using the pen, not like poor BMW who seems to be brainwashed into thinking Chris Bangle knows what he's doing.

Well, they are definately VERY similar looking. Looks like a bit o corporate espionage might've happened - hehehehe...

The DB still retains a bit of the "family resemblance" with the grille design. Otherwise I'd have to look at emblems...

"HEY, y'old COOT!!! Get away from my car!"

"Hush, young'un or I'll cripple your ECM with my PACEMAKER!"

The new Jag XK looks even closer to the AM DB9 than that photo (thats an XK8), especially the rear. Check it here:
Jaguar XK

Looks like a blending of the old XK8 and the advanced lightweight coupe. Very nice car, I actually like it a bit better than the XK8.

got invited to test drive the Masers at Lime Rock last summer. Wasn't impressed. SWMBO decided the seats weren't as comfy either so it was a definate nono. The v8 makes it torquey midrange, but it just doesn't drive like a 911. Price depreciates faster than my LandRover too if thats possible...

I thought the DB7 and the Jag XK were the same, just different engine and suspension setup, btw.

Upscale "jellybeans".

No wonder I keep hangin' on to the "old" machines?

Besides, there's NO PLACE where I could open up a car capable of 180+ MPH and remain a free man. What I have here doesn't raise an eyebrow... heh.

Well, thats the subjectiveness of car aesthetics now isn't it? Last week in another thread a few people were saying that many of todays designs are to chunky, boxy or angular and not flowing or sculpted enough. If you want something different there's always the Scion Xb! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mickey, no matter whose wind tunnel you use, if you throw a blob of clay on the table and hit it with enough air, it still blows into the same shape.
