Okay, remember Emma is flooding out constantly?

Today is going to be 60 degrees. I haven't driven her since last Thursday. Dahubby is being a dh and doesn't want to work on the ZS since I have the SUs being rebuilt and they'll go in as soon as I get them back.

BUT. I NEED to go driving today. Other than the can of starter fluid (which is nearly impossible to use and start the car at the same time alone) what can I do? Can't get the RPMs up at all, soon as I let up on the gas pedal the littlest bit, they plummet and she dies.

I'm going riding today if I have to take a passenger and the can along.

OH JB, I don't know for sure but a simple bit is to remove the air cleaner and see what she does.---Keoke

And dh is adamant about not working on the ZS since we're switching it out. Off goes the air cleaner.

Janel, if you find that it is, in fact, flooding, you may want to pull the fuel line off at the carb, and spray some carb cleaner in the fuel inlet, using the little plastic tube that comes with the cleaner. If there's gunk in the needle valve, this may clean it. Won't do anything for a sticky float, though.

Don't know how she's gonna drive a ZS-euipped car without the air cleaner as the accelerator return springs hook to it!

dh. Umm, yea Mark, dear hubby, that's it, uh huh uh huh!

Day was a washout as far as Emma goes. Dahubby has some leg pain issues going on for a couple months now. He's been to his primary doctor, referred to a physiatrist, had MRIs (dot thought the physiatrist was an idiot), she referred him to the best manual therapist in STL, she referred him to an ortho. Went to the ortho today, he took good, old-fashioned xrays (go figure) and scheduled a mylogram for Tuesday. By the time we got home, we decided to go out to dinner and then watched a movie. He works tomorrow 5am-2pm. I'm going to pull the air cleaner and the fuel line coming into the carb, clean it all good and see what happens. Reset the idle, yet again. Check the dizzy to see if it's still dry and see what happens.

Then I'm going shopping! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No hurry Ben, no hurry. I have the SUs for Binabox. If I get desperate, we'll put those in Emma and the others in Binabox. Both sets are HS4s.

Janel - don't take the entire air cleaner off or you'll not have any throttle return springs

...take the end of the air cleaner loose (wing nut out on the end of the cylinder that hangs under the flat square part of air cleaner)...pull the round air filter out & shoot your starter fluid up through there....then, go around to the ignition & try to start her.
