On our favourite auction site. Haven't seen one in years (except on Harry Potter - my wife is sick of me telling her I used to have one whenver we see that clip).

I used to have one about 18 years ago. Sold it for $100 just before the engine blew.

That, the Herald convertible and the P6 are the three I still have a soft spot for.

Should have hung on to it I guess. Of course mine wasn't quite as nice as this one...

No one wanted them for years - now everybody seems to be
looking for one.
I have a 1960 105E in the garage "under restoration".
That means I haven't done anything to it for a while, but
I INTEND to!
This is really weird, having British cars that I can get
my money out of,or actually make money on.I don't understand this buy low/sell high idea.

Me neither, Doug. Spent an entire lifetime in th' other side of this dichotomous paradigm. That said...

I WANT the bumpers. For my +2.

<segue>
A friend who went to college (back-when, 1969) in NY had an Anglia he'd shoehorned a Lotus T/C into... what a handful THAT was!

Re: One of the Potter ones stolen

I saw that. It was the one that had been wrecked wasn't it? If so then it looked a lot more like the one I had than the one on Ebay!

Oh and what's this thing about profit and cars?
Is that not the worlds biggest oxymoron?

Re: One of the Potter ones stolen

I had a 64 wagon ..er.."estate" in the 70s. I scrapped it when the diff let go, and nobody had any info on where to get parts. I bought a 66 sedan a couple of months ago. It had been stored poorly for about 20 years. The engine was stuck, the hydraulics were dead, and so on. The good news is that the body is really solid, and the car only has 48k miles. Due to the miracle of Ebay(and the internet) the car is now up and running, and is now moving under its own power for the first time since the 80s.. I am looking for some interior bits, and need a couple of pieces of the side trim. I park it in front of my shop and listen to people try to figure out what it is. It will be done by spring, and I look forward to putting a few miles under its tyres.

Re: One of the Potter ones stolen

My first car was a 105E Anglia, the base model with no chrome, no glovebox lid, and the same grille as the van.........I loved it! Ambassador Blue, registration number 433CDA. Great little car. Same as Alan, I still have a soft spot for it. I still have a thing for that P6 3500S too, he and I have too much in common. Never had a Herald, though.

Re: One of the Potter ones stolen

I had the worlds most dreadful Herald convertible. Bought it as a student from a drop dead gorgeous French girl in North London for 600 quid. I spent more time looking at her than the car to my chagrin. I should have looked underneath.

Drove it home and found out it had no brakes - so had to drive round the N. Circular on the box and with the handbrake. That night a roommate decided to take it for a ride while I was out, and reversed into a new mercedes - him with no insurance.

The thing was totally rotten. Welded an outrigger. Filled the panels with my special recipe body filler - marine resin with iron powder (magnet proof and rock hard), got a cheap shiny paint job and fixed the mechanicals.

Drove it for the summer and sold it in the autumn for what it cost me with the fixes. I still have a soft spot for the car, and still remember the French girl!

It did teach me to always check out the car not the owner though!!!

Attached is a pic of my Anglia, which was well rallied in the late 60s early 70s.It survived a roll over but not a head on into a telegraph post on the last event I was going to do before getting married!!

Lads, lads! Behave yrslvs! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif

Meanwhile, back on topic.......Here's a nice racing Anglia that I've seen at Lime Rock (but this was taken at Watkins Glen). When I saw this car, it had a twin-cam.

When I was in high school, a pal had an older "rounded" Anglia with a flathead. We had a little dirt track behind our school where we'd have competitions. That Anglia used to murder my A-40 when we raced.
