Interstate Batteries has a new battery concept, they call it the OPTIMA YELLOW TOP. It is designed for classic cars that don't get driven everyday, and are mostly in storage.
This battery was recommended to me by Mike Martinez of Star Auto Electric in Calif. He rebuilds Lucas Generators and Alternators. I have taken the liberty to include his comments:
"The battery is the most critical and important component of the charging system. I do not know what type of battery you have in your vehicle, but I can absolutely guarantee to you that if you cannot upgrade to an alternator you should consider installing an Optima Yellow Top (Deep Cycle) Battery in your Jaguar if you have the room for one. The reason to use this battery is because of your added components. This is a special application battery with a better handling of vehicle loads and it has a rapid rate of recuperation which will help with the generator function. You can obtain more information on this battery at the website:
https://www.optimabatteries.com. This battery is distributed by Interstate Batteries and there are Dealers
throughout the USA."
Unless you are preparing a museum-original car, don't bother with old technology original-style batteries. Old cars need all the help they can get, even when restored. Ex
