I have had my ’59 Bugeye since 1974 and am finally going to put it all back together. Strange to think I was 7 years old when this car was new. I’ve had many good memories of it and would like to get it into roadworthy and perhaps local car show shape just for fun. It won’t be a daily driver.
Not interested in an original mechanical restoration as 40 HP at my altitude of 6000 feet is more like 30 which is really unsafe for almost any road here.So I will be looking to keep the exterior and interior close to original but mechanicals will be updated to later Sprite/Mini specs so that I can keep up with traffic when I need to. Besides, I think these cars were made to be modified and hot rodded. At least that’s the fun of it for me.
Over the years I collected and dismantled several cars for parts so I have more than enough of everything for the task. Looking forward to the experience and expertise I can gain here from so many members. Tricks, tips, etc. Should be fun! When it’s not frustrating that is…
