thanks for being here. I joined after the original Austin forum I was on seemed to fade away...on yahoo I think.
I have a machine shop specializing in British and European motorcycles, but occasionally I revisit my youth and work on British iron of the 4 wheel variety. My personal 4 wheeler is a 1951 Austin A40 I rescued many years ago. My next step with this car is to transplant an MGB drivetrain and running gear onto it.
I am sure there will be some sage advice regarding this here.

Hello SkipG

Welcome to the forum.

Forums fade away when people just read them and don't post there.

There are several areas that you may find good information for your project. The MG section and the Other British Cars section. Also you could check out the Pub area where almost anything comes up for discussion.

Post some photos of your A40.

WELCOME I hope you have a warm shop in MN .. I would look for information on MG's by year EX my 1967 MG B had MG A trans non syn first gear. Drive line shops can make any drive shaft using your flanges say.
If you want a new rear end what gears. Overdrive cars are different as would know. If its the motor also find one with out smog and look at other trans say 5 speed over a MG trans. Many kits out there. I am in Reno NV and those items are here but shipping cost $$$ so look near home. If you have more questions or interested in some parts. Let me know and I can ask around. I am on this Thread each day. Madflyer
