In my other thread, trying to figure out why the power train locks up on our BE with a Datsun 5 speed, I mentioned pulling the pumpkin out of a spare axle assembly, and discovering that someone had drilled a small hole in the housing and then sand-blasted it, such that there's sand throughout the inside.
I'm okay with tossing the wheel bears if I should want to salvage those parts, but would sure appreciate any ideas as to how to clean all the sand out of the ring and pinion assembly, as I really don't want to disassemble/pay to have disassembled that finely machined and finely worn in assembly.
