The Hi-Lo switch has been giving me some trouble for quite some time. I turn on the dash switch for the headlights and most of the time they don't come on UNLESS I move the stalk switch a little and bingo, the headlights come on. Figuring the contacts need cleaning, I started to remove the switch to service it. What I found was that the small spring was only attached to the contact board and not the base of the switch.
During the removal, the switch came apart.... spring, main copper contact and the small nylon board that has the wires riveted on.
It should be pretty easy to finish removing the switch and reassemble it. However, I went to my spare parts and sure enough I had a spare headlight switch. I've already cleaned the spare up so all I have to do is remove the switch currently installed in the steering column then install the cleaned-up spare.
Can't have too many spare parts!
