FWIW -- You might also want to consider isolating the air flow for the oil cooler.... reason being, if you place it in front of the radiator the hot air from the oil cooler will be presented to the radiator. I choose to isolate that air flow and direct it down .... exiting under the car, so the radiator just got unheated air.

Happy to help. The leading edge on the air exit (first picture) under the car is longer to create a low pressure area behind it (vacuuming effect) which will help "pull" the air through the oil cooler to evacuate it. The aluminum pan surrounding the oil cooler under car exit keeps the exited air from going back up into the radiator.

Here is how the housing I made for the airflow looks. It also acts as a stone guard. My main goal was to not cut holes in the shroud.

Inside has an air deflector. This is an upside down view from how it installs in the car.

Be sure to use a thermostat bypass so oil does not begin to flow through the cooler until after it is warmed up.

So, does installing an ail cooler reduce the engine running temps that trouble so many Healey owners? I realize there are many different sizes available and the primary application if for race cars. My Porsche 968 has an oil cooler but I have no idea whether it has much influence on engine temp, as this car has never run hot.

I was going for the hole in the shroud, pay homage to the 375 MM with exposed rivets. Lots of choices.

One of our AHCNE club members was just saying this on our monthly tech call that he has an oil cooler on his car and it makes a big difference in engine temp.
