Turbocharged Rotary-Powered Bugeye. Not for the faint of heart...

I'm a new member to these forums, but have been tinkering and building cars for much of my 58 years on the planet.
Here's my '59 Sprite project car that has been, ahem, slightly modified.
https://rotarybugeye.blogspot.com/
It's still a work in progress, and I figure I have another 6-12 months on it before it's fully back on the road.
Cheers!

Man that looks like a lot of work but nice job so far. Should be fun when finished.

Yeah, to be honest it turned into something much, much more involved than originally planned.
If you can believe it, the entire project started with me just starting with replacing rusty floor pan metal on the stock car.
Now, I think the only remaining original part on the car is the windshield.

Before the Internet; There used to be someone who made a kit for Mazda rotary engined Bugeyes & Spridgets called Sprazda, I believe.
There was a guy that auto-crossed one in the SF Bay Area and would always be one of the fastest times of the day. I think he had a Datsun 510 modified rearend in his car.

I used to see that car regularly when I lived in the Sunnyvale in the late eighties. Very impressive car. And yes, I believe it ran a Datsun R160 LSD rear end. That actually served as one of the inspirations for my own first attempt at IRS in my Bugeye; i.e., I also ran an R160, but without LSD. Learned a lot about suspension design with that first iteration.

That is going to be a great hot rod, best have it pointed straight ahead when you get on the power. I have a very stock 93 RX7, it is quick enough for me.
