    An Electric TR3 ??

I have a friend who is a British car guy. He has a Bug eyed Sprite as summer driver and one of those Mini Traveller station wagons that he has been restoring over the years. Whenever a Brit sports car comes up he buys it for future projects so he has an Austin Healy 3000 waiting in the wings for when he retires.About ten years back he rescued a TR3 from a shack that collapsed on top of the car and broke the windscreen.Other than the windscreen it's in great shape and complete. I asked him what his plans were for it and he said he wanted to turn it into an electric car?? My first reaction was that's sacrilege! Then I thought well it's his car he can do what he wants with it. To me though you would lose all the fun of a TR3 ie. the rorty exhaust note and engine song. Just seems wrong to me. Why not an electric Karman Ghia or Miata instead? Any thoughts?

I think it's a great idea, if you have a TR3 with a bad engine. But if you put 100hp electric in it you might have to beef up the transmission / rear end. Or you could put a torque limiter on it. I drove a 100hp electric volt that could spin it's wheels at will.

We have a guy in our club that has an all electric Spitfire. I believe he’s working on an E TR6 now...

As long as he doesn't use Lucas for the electric part.

I thought you deleted the trans on an aftermarket electric conversion.
