Friday Fun Music Made the Movie Great

I have a find place in my heart for the movie Excalibur, one of the many cinematic takes on the King Arthur story. I realize the acting and dialogue is not the best, but watching knights do their thing to Wagnerian opera, including "Siegfried's Funeral March" at the end is, to use a cliched but apt term here, epic (BTW, I am not a expert on classical music, I had to look it up, but the music itself stays with you). https://youtu.be/fb7lUb4L9xc

Star Wars comes to mind as well, and I could probably say some of the same things about this popular classic, the music stays with you and compliments and vastly improves the story being told. https://youtu.be/_D0ZQPqeJkk

    Surely others you have...

When I was teaching English Literature to seniors I would use Excalibur when covering Arthurian legend. I have always enjoyed that one and the music definitely helps it along.

The shining example of music making a movie - The Blues Brothers!

Without the music it wouls have been just a strange comedy - but when you threw in just about every great R&B musician under the sun, picked songs that fit into the scenes and used 1st class recording techniques to get it right - the music makes it come alive. I still rock the soundtrack in my car and at home 30 years later - couldn't beat that sound.

A fave of mine for the soundtrack in coordination with the scenes is "Guardians of the Galaxy" and the sequel. Love the dichotomy in a few of 'em. And the "synchronicity" in others.

Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel have some of the best soundtracks of any movies I've seen in the recent past.
