3000 BJ8 Door Seals

I installed new door seals on my BJ8 and not sure they are correct. Do they end before the top bend or continue up over the top as in the photos? Concerned they will not stay at the sharp bend. I have 2 small screws to further attach them but not sure where to insert if correct. Seals are MacGregor product. Great product!!!
Thanks for comments

I'm pretty sure that you have it correctly installed. I used MacGregor seals on my BJ7 and I like them although at the time I had the same question as you and I terminated them incorrectly. But I believe you have it right. If I find a picture in one of the restoration guides I will post it.

There originally was a small pozi drive flat head sheet metal screw that held the furflex fast to the metal vinyl covered panel . Ive seen two screws used on some BJ8s to hold a stubborn section of the furflex seal.
The rubber part of the seal Im afraid does get terminated under the clip as well. It was originally trimmed a bit thinner so it all fit and was hid under the clip.

the upper photo is the back side of the seal , you can see the rubber terminating under the clip , this is on my unrestored 65 bj8. An original 67 I had in the shop had the rubber bulb trimmed a little to help fit under the clip, Ive had to do this to get them look nice too .

The second photo shows the pozi drive screw that helped hold the furflex seal to the panel. There should be a hole there if you look , Ive always seen them on the convertible cars.

Hope this clears it up for you.

Thanks for sharing the photos! That bend is almost 90 degrees and I thought that maybe cutting a V at that point would relieve the stress making it look better.

Hi Patrick, good to hear from you again, I do enjoy the news letters you send me !

Ive had good luck installing the furflex seals , they bunch up a little in the corner, but look at the original it has that too. The modern bulbs are a tad bigger necessitating a little hidden slice cut to make them smaller so the clip fits on nice.

Thanks to all for the information. I believe I installed them correctly. The addition of the small screw really locked them down. McGregor seals are awesome and he even included the two small screw plus advise.
