    German horn on BJ7

It's always embarrassing to show pics of the car pre resto. The attached is a pic of an old pic showing the horn that's been on my car since the early 1970s when we purchased the car. Made in Germany. Could it possibly be original?

Do they go 'Achtung!' instead of 'beep?' (sorry, couldn't resist).

They don't look like any of the original horns I've seen and, AFAIK, different horns weren't spec'd for European export cars, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

Well my car was originally exported to Germany and this is what the horns looked like before I restored the car.

Vette, that's interesting. I should get a heritage cert for my car. That'll tell if it was exported to Germany, right? Or, how did you know that?

Yes the heritage cert tells. Mine was originally exported to Stuttgart, Germany.

I bet that the horn packed in and was replaced with a home market unit to pass inspection.

Occam's Razor, had to google that one. Understood.

Original or not, I think I'll keep them. It's the sound that goes with the car for my ear. What I heard as a teen into my 20's. 1970s and 80s. After all it's all about old memories.

The BMC parts manual for BJ7/BJ8 doesn't show different horns for German-spec cars (or different horns for any other country).
