Yesterday I received a PM from one of our own, "TR3pilot", asking if I might have owned and sold a '57 TR3 a while back - 13/14 years?. He recently bought one and was looking for info on it. I sent him a note back affirming, and gave the VIN and color combo of the one I restored and then sold on ebay. He wrote back - BINGO! - the very same!

We exchanged email addresses and phone numbers, and he gave me a call. Had a great conversation, filling me in on where it has been and his impressions of it. I'll be sending him some pictures that I still have, along with a copy of the British Motor Heritage Certificate that I acquired.

I'd been wondering what became of the car for quite a while, as I'd lost contact info on the buyer long ago. In fact, just a couple days ago I did a Google search on the VIN to no avail. And then this happened!

One more note of thanks to Basil for this forum!

Amazing and wonderful; you are living right!

Don't know about that, but sure glad he got in touch! Too bad he's so far away; would love to see it "in person".

Good that you got to hear that your TR3 is still going strong.

Based on a thread a while ago about finding a message on the back of the "Dog leg trim" I wrote some information on mine as I was putting them in.

If all goes as planned I will never get a called or message as I intend to keep my TR3 till I shuffle off this mortal plain.

Gotta say - even without the grille she looks great!

Forgot to ask you - did you get the original disk wheels and hubcaps? They went with the car when I sold it.

Mickey, No I didn't get the original wheels. They may well be there and I may well get them in time as things get sorted out. However just today I painted up a set with the color matched ... Here's 1st one of the line

The reason I bought the Minilite replicas is that the original steelies were warped. Kept them just for originality's sake - painted to match the body. And the hubcaps were in very good shape.

Painted the wheels to color code and some new rubber

The TR3 looks great, I had a similar deal with my Healey 100 I sold in 2008 on eBay. Was great to catch up with the new owner. Sold it to a dealer in Florida, it ended up back in England by way one of the Scandinavian countries.
