Tonight I went to my first meeting and officially joined the local Jaguar club. Figure it might motivate me to get going on my Etype.

Just remember......lots of buffoonery resides in some of those branches.

Wait until you question something you KNOW is wrong...and that they have supported with data from published authors....NOT Jaguar Data as stipulated.

"All (specific models) shall have:"
Except they don't.

Still, fun, especially when you go to a meeting and some clown is telling folks to stay away from e-types, as he had one decades ago, and it cost him a fortune....and we are leaving, and I see him unlocking a very recent Jag....looks like a Chrysler Sebring.....so in passing I say...."Nice Chrysler" and I thought he was gonna blow a head gasket right there.

I did have a lot of fun with them....tours of the area...

I meet with them last night. A good mix of E-type and older model owners as well as newer model owners - all seem like good folks. Just looking for camaraderie and being able to look at other eTypes for guidance.

Does it start like AA with:

Hi, I'm Basil and I own a Jaguar.

Is there a sister organization for spouses and teenagers?

You know what drove me the craziest with JCNA? Judging.

Not only did the specific guide for my model have serious issues (and violated specific JCNA guidelines), but the restrictions on the judges.
I was with Early Ford V-8 club for years. Even did judging. I know how 49-51's are put together and supposed to look.
In the rain, on your back, climbing underneath..inspect axles, brakes, suspension, pipes and hoses....under dash with a flashlight.

JCNA?

No flashlights. No touching the vehicle, ONE knee on the ground max (as in, not on your back looking up under the wings), cannot, CANNOT judge suspension or brakes (as in wire wheels, you can SEE disc brakes on a 120 that didn't come with them, but can't even mention it.

Arguments? Appeals? Regular appeals committees to handle it. Just weird where working class Fords are given a closer look than classic Jags.

https://www.jcna.com/sites/default/...tructions_and_General_Rules_for_the_Judge.pdf

2.
Judge's Posture
Judges are permitted to stand, bend over at the waist, or kneel to inspect judged items.

3.
Judge Touching the Jaguar

While judging is in progress Judges are forbidden to touch the
Jaguar without the Entrant's
permission. Due to liability considerations, Judges are forbidd
en to sit inside the Jaguar at
any time during judging.
https://www.jcna.com/sites/default/...er_5_Judges_Guide_to_Jaguar_Evaluation_V7.pdf

4.
Items Excluded From Judging
a.
The underside of the vehicle
b.
Inner sidewalls of road tires

Note: If, during a Judge’s normal inspection of wheels and tires, inside portions of the wheel, or its brake components, are plainly visible through the spokes/openings in the wheel, those areas and components, may be judged for CLEANLINESS ONLY, NOT condition and NOT authenticity unless specified otherwise in the applicable Judging Guide.

And it changes. When I went through Judge Training, one knee...now they can kneel. Couldn't touch at all..now with reason and permission. I remember my first judging on my car....after we were done, the judge said, since I am now a normal citizen again...O have questions. And I told him all about the differences. He sat, observed, saw all sorts of stuff.
